Watchmans Hour - Strumble Head

Watchmans Hour - Strumble Head - Images from book

Located on the North West tip of Pembrokeshire, on the small islet of Ynys Meicel (St Michaels’s Island), on the Pencaer peninsula just west of Fishguard. Built in 1908, this now fully automated lighthouse’s light can be seen from 26 nautical miles away. You certainly feel cut off from the world when you are out there, even though it is well visited. This image was captured not far from the parking area, although if you don’t mind a longer walk in late summer you can look back at the lighthouse with gorse and heather across the cliff tops. This area is also one of the best sites around where you can view porpoises.
