Waiting On The Tide - Saundersfoot

Waiting On The Tide - Saundersfoot - Images from book

During the 1800’s Saundersfoot became a thriving industrial port, exporting high quality anthracite by sea. Queen Victoria decreed that only coal from Saundersfoot should be used for the first Royal Steam Yacht. These days it’s a popular seaside resort, which is packed during the summer months. It’s also the location for the famous New Year’s Day swim, where over 1000 swimmers annually brave the cold waters to raise money for charity, cheered on by thousands of well-wishers. Thankfully on this spring morning the beach was deserted, apart from this boat, and most certainly a lot warmer.
