Preseli Lights - Preselis

Preseli Lights - Preselis - Images from book
The Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights, over the Preselis on St Patrick's day, 17th March 2015. On this evening the Aurora was going to be visible over most parts of the UK, weather permitting, due to the biggest solar flare in around 20 years. Knowing this, and that we were due for a clear night, I headed up to the Preselis to get a high vantage point and some dark skies to see if I could catch a glimpse. I was not disappointed. Even this far south you could see the faint light of the Aurora by eye. The advantage with using a long exposure on a camera is that the camera picks up far more than the human eye can see. As a result I was able to capture some stunning Aurora Borealis light displays, before a thick bank of fog rolled in.
