The Preseli's rise to a height of 536 metres above the Irish Sea. Their wild and haunting beauty has cast its spell over man since the Stone Age. The bluestone circle at Stonehenge (some 150 miles away) was made from stones from this area. There are more prehistoric monuments per square mile in the Preseli region than anywhere else in Wales outside Anglesey. Some have been beautifully reconstructed, but most lie untouched in a landscape that probably has not changed much for many thousands of years.
Preseli Ponies 1
After the 3rd visit in a week up Carn Enoch in the Preseli's (overlooking Dinas, Fishguard & Newport), and lots of waiting for the right light that never happened, I turned my attentions to the wild Ponies that roam free in the area.
I used a long lens, so I wouldn't disturb their habitat, and positioned the Pony between me and the setting sun to get this halo effect.
