Saundersfoot began life as a few medieval cottages in a forest clearing in Coedrath, a hunting ground of the Norman Earls of Pembroke. 500 years later, in the early 1800's anthracite coal was discovered. Such was the demand for this coal that in 1829 Saundersfoot Harbour was built and connected by rail to six mines. 150 years on when the coal industry vanished Saundersfoot evolved into the seaside resort we know and love today.
